The “E.Vanoni” is a secondary school specializing in technical, economic and technological studies. There are three main courses for accountants (with different skills in the field of I.T. or marketing/languages) and surveyors. The school is situated on the south-east coast of the Salento, in the Apulia region, in the province of Lecce (on the south-east coast of Italy).. It is an area of ancient historic traditions with interesting historic town centres and natural beauties which attract many tourists every year, especially in the summer and in spring. At present, the area is going through a crucial economic crisis which is reflected by a high rate of unemployment and many people are obliged to leave their home villages and towns and find a job in the North or abroad. Our students are particularly disillusioned with their future job opportunities, underestimate their educational paths, being persuaded that everything has to be achieved through personal connections, rather than individual effort and school achievement. As a matter of fact, the school is committed to improving its students’ motivation and reducing drop-outs, with special projects connecting people to the world of business and work, enhancing team work and promoting a new perspective oriented towards innovation and enterprise.
